Meet the owner:

Whisking, dipping, chopping and baking, they’ve been part of Ed’s life for more than 40 years. His passion for French pastry started when he was young and has taken him around the world. Ed’s career has taken him from Paris to Montreal where he worked in some of the most luxurious hotel kitchens, to Ottawa where he was the go-to pastry chef for government dignitaries and the royal visits, to Calgary where he was the head of SAIT’s chocolate and sugar program.

“No matter where I’ve worked and who I was serving, one thing has always been important to me – quality. I look forward to bringing the same high level of quality that I insisted on in the best kitchens to my new café.”

Ed’s latest project is bringing him back to Edmonton’s culinary scene where he opened his first café more than 35 years ago.

Edmonton roots:

Ed, Mood Café’s owner, has been part of Edmonton’s café culture since the early 80’s when he opened one of the city’s first French pastry shops. Le Petit Paris, which was located on 105 Street near Jasper Ave. was one of the first in the city to have a patio. One of Le Petit Paris’ early fans was the legendary Wayne Gretzky. Ed still thinks his eclairs were Wayne’s secret weapon.
